Tania and I have started following the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod and give each other a book on Xmas eve。 This year Tania got me this perfect gift。It is a silly book and it is a lot of fun。 It imagines the life of Jonesy on board the Nostromo as Ripley and the crew deal with the alien that is hunting them down one by one。 Jonesy, meanwhile has a whole host of cat things to be getting on with, often getting in the way just before or just after iconic scenes from the film。It really did br Tania and I have started following the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod and give each other a book on Xmas eve。 This year Tania got me this perfect gift。It is a silly book and it is a lot of fun。 It imagines the life of Jonesy on board the Nostromo as Ripley and the crew deal with the alien that is hunting them down one by one。 Jonesy, meanwhile has a whole host of cat things to be getting on with, often getting in the way just before or just after iconic scenes from the film。It really did bring a smile to my face。 4 1/2 stars。 。。。more

I'll be honest, I have not seen the original Alien movie 😅 but getting to see it from the cats point of view was simply joyful! I'll be honest, I have not seen the original Alien movie 😅 but getting to see it from the cats point of view was simply joyful! 。。。more

Ever wondered what Jonesy the cat got up to on the Nostromo? Gorgeous book that would make a great gift for the Alien/cat-lover in your life!

No text just pictures。 This book follows Jonesy through the whole movie Alien, as he does various normal cat activities。 We only see what he sees。 It's good if you are familiar with the movie because you know what is happening elsewhere。 It's funny because he is so oblivious to the action。 He's just a cat, being a cat。 No text just pictures。 This book follows Jonesy through the whole movie Alien, as he does various normal cat activities。 We only see what he sees。 It's good if you are familiar with the movie because you know what is happening elsewhere。 It's funny because he is so oblivious to the action。 He's just a cat, being a cat。 。。。more

I giggled my way through Jonesy’s time on the Nostromo and his encounters with the xenomorph。 It’s funny how nap time, sitting on laps, hacking up fur balls and chasing things can be so soothing, sweet and funny against the backdrop of a horrifying creature appearing and humans fighting for their lives。

In space no one can hear you meow。 Love this。 Always wondered what Jonesy was doing while the alien was mucking about, killing everyone。

Alien told from the point of view of it's true star。。。 yes jonesy the ships cat! Nicely drawn and very funny in places it tells the story of alien from jonesy's point of view。 Told using artwork only, note there is no dialogue (jonesy is a cat, he doesn't speak!) Don't let that put you off。 If you know the alien story that's great and if you don't you'll still be able to follow it。 The book is quirky and worth having if a/ you like cats and b/ you like alien。 Great fun。 Alien told from the point of view of it's true star。。。 yes jonesy the ships cat! I love the Alien franchise and this was a hysterical and adorable addition to it。 The author/artist was spot on with the wonderful obliviousness that are our beloved furry felines while a crazy xenomorph is trying to kill everyone!

When I first heard about his book, I had thought it was going to be from the same author who gave us Alien Next Door。 I was wrong, and then I was anticipating that it would not be as good。 But actually it’s as good, but in totally different ways。 While Alien Next Door gives the reader a delightfully silly (often noxiously sweet and innocent) alternate reality version of the xenomorph from Ridley Scott’s cinematic masterpiece, Alien (1979), this book shows a kind of cat’s eye alternate, what-if v When I first heard about his book, I had thought it was going to be from the same author who gave us Alien Next Door。 I was wrong, and then I was anticipating that it would not be as good。 But actually it’s as good, but in totally different ways。 While Alien Next Door gives the reader a delightfully silly (often noxiously sweet and innocent) alternate reality version of the xenomorph from Ridley Scott’s cinematic masterpiece, Alien (1979), this book shows a kind of cat’s eye alternate, what-if version of the events of that film。 Yes, it’s still just a touch delightfully silly, but it also gives some good ideas about what Jonesy was up to while Ripley and company were battling for their lives against the ultimate in xenophobic nightmares。 So if you’ve ever wondered where’s that darn cat? while watching the film, this book will answer your question。 If you never asked that question, well maybe you should have。Update: I’ve now “read” this wordless picture book three times and it’s just as delightful and wonderful as it was the first time。 。。。more

I’m not a cat person, but I thought this would be fun。 What did it all look like to Jonesy? Kind of the “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” version of Alien! And it is fun。 Jonesy is a cat, and cats don’t talk, so there’s no text。 It’s all graphics, and a graphical novel seems like a great way to relate Jonesy’s experience。The alien is a disturbance in a nice life on board the Nostromo。 Regular meals, as much human company as you really want, and a pretty quiet, cozy existence。 Then there’s I’m not a cat person, but I thought this would be fun。 What did it all look like to Jonesy? In the end, the humans deal with it。 They do that kind of stuff。 。。。more

Being a sci fi geek and a crazy cat lady this book ticked all the boxes for me。 Mainly a picture book but those pictures speak volumes。 A must read for all lovers of the Alien films and books。

The story of Jonesy the cat on the Nostromo, chasing face huggers, finding beams of moonlight to lay in, and doing other normal cat things on board the space ship。 There are no words in this book, and the artwork is really charming。 You don't have to be familiar with the movie Alien to enjoy this one。 The story of Jonesy the cat on the Nostromo, chasing face huggers, finding beams of moonlight to lay in, and doing other normal cat things on board the space ship。 There are no words in this book, and the artwork is really charming。 You don't have to be familiar with the movie Alien to enjoy this one。 。。。more

A delightfully cute book about a day in the life of a cat。 That cat just happens to be on a spaceship。 Which just happens to have an alien come aboard and attack the humans that live there and cause all kinds of a ruckus。 But that is not important, what is important is finding the best nap spot and making sure to get a share of the treats! Wonderful illustrations and a truly comprehensive story told with no need for dialogue, especially if you are a cat owner。

Jonesy the cat gets top billing in new Alien bookReview by C。J。 BunceThe ginger tomcat named Jones, aka Jonesy。 He co-starred with human actor Sigourney Weaver in Ridley Scott’s science fiction classic Alien。 Now nearly 40 years later, Jonesy gets his own book。 Recounting from his perspective the events aboard the USCSS Nostromo on its fateful mission encountering xenomorphs, Jonesy: Nine Lives on the Nostromo is now available in bookstores。 It is much, much, better than you might think。 And it’s a contender for best gift idea for the holiday season, especially for anyone who likes cats。Lots of books aim for humor and don’t quite get it right。 The balance between cutesy and adhering to the parameters of the source material is not an easy thing。 Writer-artist Rory Lucey has cats and he is a fan of Alien。 When he showed the movie Alien to his wife for the first time, her natural question was: Does Jonesy survive? From there, Jonesy: Nine Lives on the Nostromo was born。 And like a really fabulous look at a day in the life of a dog, Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Hawkeye Issue #11 (2013’s single best comic book issue), readers will not encounter any actual words in this book。 And that’s as it should be。Lucey takes his knowledge of cat behavior and fills in the blanks of the film–those times when we didn’t see Jonesy hissing at the xenomorph behind you, what was he up to? Scratching, taking a bath, sleeping, licking things he shouldn’t be–yes, all that, and much more。 And all of it fits into the story from the original film perfectly。 It’s even better than A Die Hard Christmas。 Some Jonesy trivia: Since Jonesy was kept in cryostasis for 57 years, living to at least sixty Earth years in the Alien franchise, that makes him one of the oldest cats–ever。 Jonesy also is the common link between the Alien series and both Halo and World of Warcraft。 Jonesy can be found in both of these games。Cat lovers will love Jonesy: Nine Lives on the Nostromo whether or not they love the Alien movies。 And Alien fans with a sense of humor will see this as a worthy extension of the series, giving Jonesy his well-deserved day in the spotlight。 。。。more
